1.3The human's job
Updated (this page's history on GitHub)
Planned. Has an outline, but is not yet written out.
What this section will cover
- The human's job: intent, constraints, oversight
- You're the CEO of your factory: you set the intent and the constraints, and you hire a plant manager to oversee the process. The name comes from The Goal, whose hero runs a plant.
- The plant manager oversees the factory process itself: whether plans get checked, whether work gets verified, whether lessons get captured, and where the bottleneck is now
- The plant manager isn't another agent. It's a tool that sits above the factory, watching the process rather than doing the work. That's an idea I'm still exploring.
- Why a tool: it enforces deterministic policies, and it lets you track and visualize what's happening in the plant
- An agent can still help: a plant manager agent can support the tool, as long as the tool stays the thing that enforces the policies
- The plant manager is different from the orchestrator: the orchestrator runs agents on the work, and the plant manager oversees the process the work follows
